Children's privacy notice

For parents and guardians: what Mellowmoor knows about your child, and how you stay in control.

Last updated: 21 October 2026

This notice is given to you, as the parent or guardian, before you agree to Mellowmoor storing information about your child. It sits alongside our full privacy policy. Mellowmoor is made by Benjamin Jacob McGill, a sole trader in Victoria, Australia, trading as Mellowmoor. You can reach us at hello@mellowmoor.com.

"This device only" changes in one case. A school or centre can switch on sharing between its own tablets, so a child who moves from tablet to tablet keeps their play (including Calm Cove check-ins), stickers, settings, session plan, goals and notes. Before it can, the organisation must confirm it holds your consent for this. The details are then also kept in that organisation's account (Supabase, Sydney, Australia), visible only to its staff accounts; play details are deleted after 6 months, and everything shared is deleted if the organisation switches sharing off. Pictures, the story log, the Language Lighthouse language choice and PINs are never shared. Families' accounts never share these details.

"Your account" means our database, hosted by Supabase in Sydney, Australia, which only your account can reach. We ask for a nickname rather than a full name: a first name or a made-up name works best.

What we never collect from your child

No full name, photos, voice, location, contacts, or device advertising identifier. There are no ads, no chat, no social features and no links out of the app in the children's area, so your child cannot share information with anyone through Mellowmoor.

Who can see it

You, through the parents' area behind your PIN. We use the information only to run Mellowmoor for you, and our hosting provider stores it for us. We never sell it, use it for advertising, or give it to anyone else except where the law requires. If you share a report, you choose who receives it.

Your consent

During setup, you confirm that you are an adult and the child's parent or legal guardian, and you agree to Mellowmoor storing the information above. With an account, your email address is verified first, and we record when you gave consent. Nothing about your child is stored in your account before that.

Purchases are made by adults only

Children cannot buy anything in Mellowmoor: there is nothing for sale in the children's area. The subscription is bought by an adult, from the parents' (or staff) area behind the PIN, through the App Store, Google Play or, for the Android app from our website, a secure checkout run by RevenueCat with payment by Stripe. Payment details are about the adult who pays and are held by Stripe (or by Apple or Google), never by us, and nothing about your child is sent to them.

How to review your child's information

  1. Open Mellowmoor and tap the parents' area. Enter your PIN.
  2. Children shows each profile's nickname, age and avatar, and lets you change them.
  3. Overview, Reports and Insights show their progress and play.

For a copy of everything we hold in your account, email us from the address on your account.

How to delete your child's information

  • One child: in Parents > Children, delete the profile. It is removed from this device and from your account, with all its progress.
  • Play details only: in Parents > Settings > Play details, delete them for a child, or switch recording off.
  • Everything: in Parents > Safety & account > Delete account. See deleting your account.
  • By email: write to hello@mellowmoor.com from your account's address and we will do it for you.

You can also refuse any further collection at any time by deleting the profile. Your child can still use Mellowmoor only with a profile, because their progress is what makes the games adapt.

If your child uses Mellowmoor at school or a centre

The organisation set up your child's profile and is responsible for asking for your consent. It can show you, change or delete your child's information. If it shares play between its tablets (see above), you can ask it what is shared, or ask it not to keep your child's details online; it can delete your child's profile, which deletes the shared details too. If you can't get an answer from the organisation, contact us.
